How we work, and how you can check it

The BoldLine Group starts with evidence from your own people, shows you how each finding was reached, and leaves the decisions with you.

We diagnose. We recommend. You decide.

  1. We diagnose

We collect, measure and compare answers from leadership and the team, and understand the reasons behind them, before we say what any of it means.

  2. We recommend

We recommend the priorities we think will make the most difference, and show you the evidence behind each one.

  3. You decide

Your chosen priorities sit beside ours in the report. You know things the evidence can't show, such as commercial plans, timing and resources.

Human-led. Technology-enabled.

The Health Check runs on a platform BoldLine built for the job. It does the counting and drafts the first version of the words. Every judgement about what the evidence means, and what to do about it, is made by a person.

The technology does

  • Calculates every average, gap and flag, using arithmetic that gives the same answer every time
  • Drafts the report from figures already calculated, and records which figures it used
  • Groups written comments into themes, and links each theme to the comments behind it

The technology never

  • Raises a finding that no number supports
  • Decides which areas need attention. That is the consultant's call
  • Sends anything to you. Every draft is checked and edited first

Every number can be checked by hand

Averages, bands and gaps follow fixed rules, applied the same way every time. Two rules stop an average hiding a problem: any question averaging below 2.00 is flagged on its own, and two or more questions below 2.50 flag their whole area.

There is no overall business score, anywhere. A strong average can hide a serious weakness in one area. We would rather tell you what the evidence says than that you are 74 out of 100.

See what the Health Check covers

Confidential, and never attributed to individuals

  • Answers are not linked to names. Each invitation link works once, and then the connection between the link and the answers is cut.
  • A leadership and team gap is only presented when each group has at least three people. Department or site breakdowns need at least five.
  • Written comments can identify the writer, so the consultant reads them first and rewords any that are shared with you.
  • You receive our report. The raw responses stay with BoldLine.

What we ask of you: context, judgement and decisions

BoldLine does the analysis. At each stage we ask you a few core questions, three at most wherever practical, and we use the evidence you already have before asking for anything new. Context, judgement and decisions. Not homework.

What we don't do

  • Give your business a single score, a grade or a pass mark.
  • Let software make the judgement. A person makes every call.
  • Hand your leadership the raw responses.
  • Restructure by default. We change only what solves something.
  • Run HR programmes such as engagement surveys, pay reviews, recruitment or redundancies.
  • Produce a 200-page report.
